THE FIRST STEP

The first step is to get in touch. Most people have questions, and we offer a free consultation. For any queries, please contact us.

To get to know you and give us a clearer idea if neurofeedback is right for you, we will ask you questions about your goals, history, and issues (if any).

STEP 2 - SELECT A PLAN

The next step is to identify what is blocking your way, and design your brain training programme.

This can be done in one of two ways:

  1. Exploring EEG: a simple 2 to 6 sensor EEG Headband applies dry sensors attached to a simple head band placed above your eyebrows. The sensors receive the electrical waves from your brain, and this can be reflected back to you in various ways. We can track the waves describing your current brain activity and guide you towards your own design your brain training programme if you wish - or, after a training session, you can use it to build neuroplasticity and mental fitness.

  2. Clinical EEG: a 12 to 20 point QEEG brain map. A brain map involves a set of sensors fixed to a cap; it looks and feels like a swimming cap. The sensors listen to the electrical impulses from your brain, giving us details of your brain activity so we can design your brain training programme.

This assessment time also gives you the chance to meet your neurofeedback tutor or therapist, see what we do, and find out what you can expect from the training.

STEP 3 - NEUROFEEDBACK SESSIONS

The general process

Neurofeedback is non-invasive and fun. A decade of research has shown it can improve Attention Deficit Disorders and promote well-being. Depending on the aim of the person, this may require:

·         EEG Boost: 7, sessions of between 20 to 45 minutes to boost mental fitness and resilience.

·         Rewire: 20 to 40 sessions for permanent development in children who are learning to regulate their attention.

Recorded brain waves over time.

Neurofeedback uses noninvasive sensors that touch the scalp and measure and monitor the activity in the brain, using brain analysis software. This can gives us a printout of a person’s dominant brain wave activity over time.

During a neurofeedback session, we compare what your brain is actually doing to what you'd like it to be doing. When your brain is nearing a more comfortable state, you are rewarded with a positive response on a computer screen via a video game, music, or movie.

Or, one of our THORT bots can respond in the physical world, with its movements reflecting your shifting THORTs.

By rule of thumb, any process that changes your perception also changes your brainwaves and physical state.

Of the newer methods, brainwave entrainment is an easy, low-cost method to temporarily alter your brainwave state.

The movement, sounds and images tell you immediately when your brain approaches a more efficient type of focus, or not. The activity plays strongly when your brain is approaching the desired state.

Advances in technology over the last 3 decades have made EEG Wellness headsets accessible to wellness and neurocoaching. These can easily be used to build specific neural networks in NeuroCoaching or just build mental fitness or reduce stress. EEG online system can also track the effectiveness of workouts over time.

Originally EEG was used as a clinical lens, seeing people as patients who experienced a mental or physical deficit or illness. Neurocoaching, on the other hand, is non-judgmental, and begins from a premise that each person is unique, and is doing their best in a given situation.

We then partner them to draw on untapped potential and to build or rebuild neural coherence for mental and physical wellbeing.

EEG has been around for over 60 years in the realm of medical science. Its focus originally has been negative, clinical and seeking out mental illness, such as epilepsy. Today the conversation about EEG is moving into the Health and Wellness field, with a positive lens focused on improving performance and building new neural networks.

Advances in technology EEG and BCI (Brain Computer Interface) technology is moving into the personal wellness arena and becoming accessible to the general public.
